Drama classes

Drama is a teaching method that allows learners to explore the curriculum using several of Gardner's multiple intelligences. It can be a technique relevant to engage students in active learning and interactive pedagogy that encourages them to engage in dialogue and uses subject specific language in highly appropriate contexts. Students are immersed into the subject. Their bodies, minds, and emotions are extremely active when they become engrossed in the drama. Drama is a powerful means of stimulating creativity in problem solving. It can challenge students' perceptions about their world and about themselves. Dramatic exploration can provide students with an outlet for emotions, thoughts, and dreams that they might not otherwise have means to express.

Mother Language Day

This good practice is a tradition at First English Language School in Sofia. This is one of the best schools in Bulgaria, where not only Bulgarians learn, but also children of diplomats and economic migrants. At this school, students learn intensively English and choose a second foreign language between German, Spanish, French and Russian. Because it is a language school, each native language at First English Language School is important. The event takes place every year in February when the International Mother Language Day is celebrated. Teachers present folk tales or literary works written in Bulgarian (in host country language) to migrant students. They have enough time to be acquainted with the works in detail, choose pieces they most enjoy and translate them into their native language.

Reception Plan

A "Reception Plan" is a strategy developed by the educational center that defines the processes to follow during the arrival of new members of the school community (students, teachers, families, administrators, etc.) and creates an organizational structure that allows to conceive the reception as a gradual process and sequenced in time, not restricting itself to a first contact or first encounter.
