PARENTS/SCHOOL COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP

Parents/school community partnership is a good practice based on the solid relationship established between teachers, students, and their parents or carers. Psycho-pedagogical literature shows that there is a strong correlation between this relationship and the benefits for school community members. Despite this evidence, little has happened in this field: many schools and families are unable to communicate and establishing a fruitful collaboration and that is, even more, the case for foreign parents/or carers. The following is a model of good practice on the school-family relationship, useful for defining operational features that go towards this direction. Parents play an important role in motivating their children for attending school activities, especially for migrant students who face some challenges in being included at both school and local communities’ level.
